I know first hand that people need time and information and to get comfortable with testing. People need time and information to prepare for the possiblility of being HIV- positive. Learning about one is HIV-Pos is a life altering event that has real economic, emotional and physical repercussions. Under the current law and regulations, people get counseling and information they need in order to informed consent. Ensuring that consent is given in writing helps ensure that people are not in a haphazard manner and unprepared for the results.
